Since our early beginning in 1956, the mission at Acme Systems has been to serve our customers through the belief that we exist to serve.
Our History
Our story is about four generations of our family working in the family lawn sprinkler business. This extraordinary family history involving four generations is an important part of The Acme Systems Difference that sets us apart from other companies. The First Generation family member in our family business is Great Grandpa John Lynch.
The Second Generation family member is irrigation pioneer Tom Laur, Sr.
Third Generation family member is Tom Laur, Jr.
Erika and Thomas Laur III are the Fourth Generation family members who worked in the company.
After 20 years working for Tom Laur Jr., Scott Selby became the first non-family member to own the company. Scott still runs the company under the Laur family principles, but he also adds some new energy and ideas to take Acme Systems into the future.
Our Founder
In 1956 Grandpa Tom Sr. started L.G.S. Construction Company, also known as Laur Goodyear Systems Construction Company in Milwaukee. In 1956 he was 23 years old. Tom Sr. installed rubber lawn sprinkler systems using Goodyear rubber materials. Grandpa Tom installed sprinklers for landscape architecture firm R.C. Greaves Associates during 1956. Great Grandpa John Lynch started working in the irrigation industry in 1958 with his son-in-law Tom Laur, Sr. John Lynch’s business was called Acme Lawn Sprinkler Systems.
Our Story
Tom Laur, Sr. is known as a Northern Irrigation Pioneer. Tom Laur, Sr. trained irrigation contractors throughout Wisconsin. Tom Sr. also learned from Ed Hunter and helped test some of Hunter’s products and learned about pumps at Rain Jet in California. In 1975 he bought Acme Lawn Sprinkler Systems from his father-in-law John Lynch. Tom Sr. incorporated the business and the company was called Acme Systems, Incorporated. Grandpa Tom became an Irrigation Association Certified Designer! Acme Systems became the leader in irrigation excellence in the Milwaukee area. Tom Laur, Sr. retired in year 1998. Tom Laur, Jr. started working at Acme Systems in 1977 when he was 22 years old. Tom Jr. is a Certified Irrigation Designer, Certified Irrigation Contractor, and EPA WaterSense Partner.
Our President, Scott Selby
Scott Began his irrigation career in 1996 and has over 25 years experience in service and installation.
Since 2017, Scott assumed leadership of Acme Systems after many years of mentoring and design training from Tom Laur, Jr. Currently Scott is a member of the irrigation association. Scott has also participated as a judge for MATC Horticulture department testing.
Scott is a native of southeastern Wisconsin and has given back as a volunteer fire fighter for over 10 years.

Our Customers
Our residential and commercial customers tell us that they chose a life-long relationship with Acme Systems for ALL their irrigation needs. We have serviced systems for some of our loyal customers that we installed 35 years ago. Some of our customers had their first sprinkler system installed about 20 years ago by Acme Systems at their first home. These same satisfied customers had a second system installed by Acme Systems when they moved to their second house. Thank you to our great and loyal customers!
